The man and a zombie story

It was a cold dark night and the man was walking through the woods to clear his head when he spotted a strange figure walking in the distance. The man was startled but couldn't take his eyes off the figure as it slowly came closer. As the man approached, he realized it was a zombie. The man froze in fear and slowly reached for his phone to call for help. However, the zombie spotted him and began to shamble towards him. The man ran for his life but the zombie was faster. The man looked back and saw the zombie gaining on him, its arms outstretched and its jaw open in a ghastly grin.*The man was exhausted and couldn't keep running for much longer. He could hear the zombie's footsteps getting closer and closer. Suddenly, he tripped over a tree root and fell to the ground. The zombie was upon him in an instant, its rotting hands reaching for him. The man closed his eyes and braced himself for the worst, but nothing happened. He opened his eyes and saw the zombie staring at him, its face inches from his own. The man screamed in terror as the zombie leaned in closer... and then... the zombie began to speak.**The zombie's voice was raspy and distorted, but it was clear what it was saying. "I won't hurt you. I just want to talk." The man was stunned. He had never heard a zombie speak before, let alone ask to talk. The zombie took a step back and waited for the man to respond.**The man hesitated for a moment before responding. "Why won't you hurt me? Aren't you a zombie?" The zombie nodded slowly. "I was once a human like you, but now I am something else. I don't know why I was brought back to life as a zombie, but I don't want to hurt anyone. I just want to be left alone." The man was shocked by the zombie's response. He had always been taught that zombies were mindless monsters, but this one seemed different.**The man slowly stood up and looked at the zombie. He could see the pain and loneliness in its eyes. He felt sorry for it and decided to help. "What's your name?" The zombie thought for a moment before responding. "My name is Jack." The man smiled and extended his hand. "I'm John. It's nice to meet you, Jack." The two of them shook hands and began to walk through the woods together.**As they walked, John asked Jack about his life before he became a zombie. Jack told him that he was a scientist who was working on a cure for a virus that was causing people to become zombies. He explained that he was working alone in his lab when he accidentally infected himself with the virus. He said that he had no memory of what happened after that, but when he woke up he was a zombie.**John was fascinated by Jack's story and couldn't help but feel sorry for him. He asked Jack if he had any family or friends that he missed. Jack said that he had a wife and daughter who had died of the virus before he became a zombie. John was stunned. He had never met a zombie who had been so human-like before. He felt a connection with Jack and promised to help him find a cure for his condition.**The two of them continued to walk through the woods, searching for a cure. They came across an abandoned lab and decided to explore it. Inside, they found a journal that belonged to Jack's former colleague. The journal contained information about the virus and how it was affecting the brain. They also found some vials of the virus that Jack recognized from his work. He took them and began to study them, hoping to find a way to reverse the effects of the virus.**After hours of studying the virus, Jack finally found something that gave him hope. He had discovered a compound that could slow down the effects of the virus. He was excited and couldn't wait to try it out on himself. He asked John to stay with him as he injected himself with the compound.**Jack injected himself with the compound and waited for the effects to take hold. At first, nothing happened, but then he began to feel a strange sensation. His vision became blurry and his heart rate slowed down. He collapsed to the ground, convulsing violently. John was terrified and tried to help him, but it was too late. Jack's body began to decay rapidly, turning into a pile of rotting flesh and bones. John was devastated. He had lost his only friend and had failed to save him.**John stood over Jack's body, feeling guilty and ashamed. He had promised to help Jack find a cure and instead had killed him. He couldn't bear to leave him there alone in the woods, so he decided to bury him. He dug a shallow grave and carefully placed Jack's remains inside. As he filled in the grave, he said a final goodbye to his friend and promised to never forget him.* The end??
