The chainsaw man in the Shadow The story

The basement door creaked as you pushed it open, the sound dragging through the house like a warning. Cold air spilled out, thick and damp, wrapping around your legs. The light switch didn’t work. It never did.

Darkness swallowed everything.

At first, there was nothing.

Then you heard it.

Breathing.

Slow. Heavy. Wet.

Not yours.

You froze halfway down the steps. The wooden stair groaned under your weight, and the breathing stopped. Silence fell so deep your ears rang.

Then—

RRRRRNNNNNN…

A faint metallic growl shivered through the basement. Not loud. Not roaring. Just idling. Waiting.

Your heart pounded. “Hello?” you whispered, instantly regretting it.

From the far corner, deeper than the shadows should allow, something shifted. A shape peeled itself from the darkness — tall, crooked, wrong. You couldn’t see its face… only the long, jagged outline where a chainsaw blade should be.

The breathing returned, closer now.

Hot.

Right in front of you.

You stumbled back, but your foot missed the step. You crashed onto the basement floor, dust exploding into the air. The chainsaw sound grew louder, revving slowly, like it was enjoying your fear.

RRRRRRRRRRRNNNNNNN—

A spark flashed in the dark.

For a split second, you saw him.

The Chainsaw Man.

Standing between you and the stairs.

Waiting.

The basement door above you suddenly SLAMMED SHUT.

And in the darkness… the chainsaw screamed to life. The chainsaw roared so loud the walls trembled.

You scrambled backward across the cold basement floor, your hands slipping in dust and something damp you didn’t want to think about. The darkness felt alive now — thick, breathing, watching.

RRRRRRRRAAAAAA—

Sparks burst again, lighting the room for half a heartbeat.

Chainsaw Man stepped forward.

Slow.

Heavy.

Each step thudded like a hammer inside your chest. The blade on his face spun, screaming, spraying faint orange sparks that danced like fireflies in the dark. You tried to scream, but your voice caught in your throat.

Then something strange happened.

He stopped.

The chainsaw slowed…

RRRNN… RNN…

Silence crept back in, broken only by that horrible breathing. You noticed something now — he wasn’t attacking.

He was watching you.

Waiting.

“W-what do you want…?” you whispered, shaking.

The shadows behind him twisted. For a moment, it looked like the basement walls were moving, stretching, alive. The air smelled like smoke and rust. Chainsaw Man tilted his head, the grinding metal echoing softly.

Then, in a rough, broken voice — like steel scraping stone — he spoke:

“…You heard me.”

Your blood ran cold.

“H-heard you… when?”

The blade twitched faster.

“Every… night.”

Your mind raced. The footsteps. The sounds. The breathing in the walls. The nightmares. The feeling you were never alone in the basement.

He had always been there.

Watching.

Waiting.

For you.

Suddenly, the light above flickered on for one blinding second.

And behind Chainsaw Man…

You saw claw marks covering the basement walls.

Thousands of them.

All leading to where you were standing.

The light snapped off again.

Darkness swallowed everything.

And right beside your ear…

You felt hot breath.

RRRRRRRRRRRR—

(Part 3

The breath in your ear turned into a deafening roar.

RRRRRRRRRRRRR—

Before you could move, something iron-strong grabbed you from behind. His grip felt like cold metal wrapped in flesh. You screamed as he lifted you off the ground, your feet kicking into empty darkness.

The chainsaw howled.

You felt the spinning blade come close — too close — the air itself vibrating against your skin. Fear swallowed your voice.

“WAIT—!” you tried to shout.

For a moment… everything slowed.

The roar.

The darkness.

Your heartbeat.

Then—

A flash of sparks.

A burst of pain.

And silence.

You fell to the basement floor, the world spinning, your vision fading in and out. The chainsaw sound stopped again, replaced by that heavy breathing. You couldn’t move. Could barely think.

Why didn’t he finish you?

Through blurred vision, you saw Chainsaw Man step back into the shadows. Not rushing. Not attacking.

Watching.

Like this was only the beginning.

Then, in that grinding, broken voice, he whispered:

“…You’re not leaving.”

The basement door above you creaked open by itself… then slowly… closed again.

Darkness swallowed you whole.

But somewhere in the black, the chainsaw began to rev once more…

RRRRRRRRRNNNNNN—

(Part 4 — The truth in the basement?

The darkness felt endless.

You barely knew where you were anymore — floating between pain, fear, and silence. The only thing real was the sound…

RRRRNNN… RNNN…

Slow. Steady. Breathing mixed with the low growl of the chainsaw.

Then you felt it.

Chainsaw Man lifted you again — not violently this time, but firmly, like you weighed nothing. The cold night air hit your skin as he carried you up the basement stairs. The door opened with a long, tired creak.

Outside, the world was quiet.

No wind.

No crickets.

No life.

Only the distant hum of the chainsaw.

The moon hid behind thick clouds as he dragged you across the yard. You could hear dirt shifting, a shovel scraping, soil being torn open. The smell of earth filled the air.

A grave.

Yours.

He lowered you into the cold ground beneath the old tree. The soil felt heavy, pressing around you, the darkness deeper than the basement ever was. You tried to move… but your body wouldn’t listen.

Above you, Chainsaw Man stood still.

Watching.

The chainsaw was silent now.

For the first time… no breathing.

No sound.

Nothing.

Then, just before the last bit of moonlight disappeared, you heard his broken voice one final time:

“…Now you stay… with me.”

The dirt covered everything.

Darkness.

Silence.

But deep under the tree…

You suddenly heard it again.

Not above you.

Not outside.

Inside the ground.

RRRRRRRRRNNNNNN—

And something beneath you… started to move.

(The End… or is it? 🌑)
